From Saturday, 16th of June, travelers should pay attention to MÁV-Start’s new summer railway timetable which is valid until the 26th of August.During this period, the railway company launches more modern trains mainly in the area of Lake Balaton and Lake Velence. Last summer, passenger numbers increased by 8.6 percent towards Lake Balaton: about 1.4 million passengers traveled by MÁV trains to the lake, which is 113 thousand more than a year earlier.

In the summer rail schedule, modern air-conditioned trains, InterCity coaches, and weekend trains run on the northern and southern shores of Lake Balaton, most of which provide the possibility of bicycle transport. Express trains run from Budapest every two hours to Nagykanizsa, Lake Balaton and Keszthely, They are called Balaton expressz.

This summer, trains run from Budapest to the Adriatic Sea. Tickets are 49 Euros.
