More than 100 teams have registered for the catfish paprikash cooking festival in Tiszacsege, which will be held on Saturday on the banks of the Tisza River next to the Tiszacsege Fisherman’s Tavern, owner Sándor Nagy said at a press conference at the venue on Wednesday.
Nagy said each participating team will receive two kilograms of filleted catfish free of charge to prepare their dish. The tavern will also set up a kitchen tent, where fish soup, catfish paprikash and fried fish prepared outside the competition will be available at discounted prices, while the restaurant itself will operate at full capacity on the day of the event. He added that approximately 1.5 tons of fish will be processed during the day.
The owner also told MTI that the primary aim of both of their major summer events – the fish soup festival and the catfish paprikash cooking festival – is to promote fish consumption.
Street musicians will entertain visitors to the Tisza riverbank during the cooking competition, while artistic groups will perform on the riverside stage in the afternoon, Nagy said. He also highlighted that a craft market will be held along the Tisza in Tiszacsege on September 5, with artisans from Nádudvar, Hortobágy and Mezőkövesd, among other places, offering their products.
