Debrecen Zoo has shared the sad news that Jocika, one of the park’s long-standing and much-loved residents, has passed away. The spider monkey was a defining part of life at the zoo for nearly four decades.
The zoo wrote that Jocika was a special character who was loved by both his keepers and visitors. His distinctive tapping nails could be heard from a distance whenever he was approaching, while his unique voice and characteristic grumbling were also part of everyday life at the zoo.
Jocika was more than just one of the zoo’s residents; he was an iconic member of the institution’s community, and his presence had been an integral part of everyday life at Debrecen Zoo for decades.
