Cyclists in Debrecen to be treated to breakfast and afternoon snacks

Local News

Cyclists in Debrecen will be treated to refreshments twice on September 16 as part of European Mobility Week and the “Bike to Work!” campaign launched by the Hungarian Cyclists’ Club, which Debrecen has also joined.

The day will start with a cycling breakfast from 7:30 a.m. in front of the Aranybika Hotel on Debrecen’s main square, where people cycling to work will be welcomed with breakfast. The nationwide initiative encourages people to leave their cars at home and choose bicycles for commuting to work, school or running errands, highlighting the benefits of sustainable transport, including cleaner air, quieter public spaces, fewer traffic jams and a healthier lifestyle.

In the afternoon, the EDC Debrecen will welcome cyclists with a Cycling Afternoon Snack at the same location from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Everyone arriving in the city centre by bicycle is invited to stop by, meet other cyclists and get to know the local cycling community.

Cyclists are also encouraged to start using the “Bike to Work!” app and join others in celebrating everyday cycling.

If you are cycling through central Debrecen on September 16, you can stop by the main square for a free breakfast in the morning or a snack on your way home in the afternoon.
