Fireworks to light up the sky over Debrecen on two evenings

University

The University of Debrecen’s freshman camps are underway, with first-year students arriving in two groups this year. Both camps will end with a fireworks display, giving residents and visitors in the area two opportunities to see the evening sky light up.

The first group of freshmen will take part in the camp from August 24 to 27, while the second group will attend from August 31 to September 3.

Fireworks scheduled for two Wednesday evenings

The fireworks will take place on the final evening of each camp, on Wednesday, August 26, and Wednesday, September 2. The rockets are expected to be launched between 9:30 and 9:40 p.m.

The display will take place at the usual location: the gravel area in the park on University Square, in front of the University of Debrecen’s main building, between the fountain and the roundabout.

The university’s Student Union has announced that this year’s fireworks display will be shorter than in previous years, in line with broader national trends – writes haon.hu.

Residents should expect some noise

The freshman camps will feature a range of programs, including louder musical events. The Student Union said organizers are making efforts to minimize noise pollution caused by amplified music, but residents living nearby are asked to expect occasional periods of increased noise during the camps.

According to the organizers, the cost of the fireworks is covered by the freshmen’s participation fees, along with other camp programs and meals.

The university has also notified the relevant authorities about the freshman camps in accordance with applicable regulations.

So if you are around University Square at around 9:30 p.m. on August 26 or September 2, look up – the sky above the University of Debrecen is set to light up twice this week and next.
