The government will provide the funds necessary for the operation of Debrecen, Hévíz–Balaton (Sármellék), and Pécs-Pogány airports this year, government spokesperson Éva Magyar announced at a press briefing on Friday.
According to her, a total of HUF 5.5 billion has been allocated to support the airports, which she said had been “abandoned by the previous government” and were therefore facing serious liquidity problems.
She said:
The original budget for this year contained not a single penny in support for the three airports. Without additional funding, the companies operating the airports would become insolvent.
