The Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) will also open the free rooms of the Golden Bull in Debrecen to Transcarpathian refugees.
The MCC, which owns the hotel, said on Wednesday – quoting Balázs Orbán, Parliamentary and Strategic Secretary of State for the Prime Minister and Chairman of the MCC Board of Trustees – that the MCC will house seven families – more than 30 MCC children and adults – and sixty more provide accommodation for those fleeing the war.
Their students also started fundraising with the help of MCC staff, in collaboration with other educational institutions, professional colleges, the Prime Minister’s Office, and a restaurant. The collection was joined by all 14 MCC rural centers and Transylvanian centers, they wrote, indicating that four tons of food, toiletries, and other necessary material donations had been collected so far, half of which had already been transported to the appropriate locations. Collection continues.
MCC offers free accommodation for its managed buildings in good condition to MCC students, teachers, and their families in Transcarpathia, as well as to other needy people in Transcarpathia in cooperation with the city government of Debrecen. Nine Transcarpathians have already been housed in the Aranybika building in Debrecen, and twenty-one people are arriving in the upcoming days, and several families are moving into their properties in Budapest and Győr.
