On Friday, June 6, in the early afternoon hours, a man in his 70s lost his life at the Debrecen Aquaticum. Help was called immediately, but despite resuscitation efforts, he could not be saved — confirmed the National Ambulance Service in response to Haon’s inquiry.
According to the Hajdú-Bihar County Police Headquarters, the Debrecen Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the incident as part of an administrative procedure. No signs of foul play or criminal activity have been found.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Aquaticum confirmed the incident. As they wrote:
“On June 6, 2025, in the early afternoon hours, a guest at our beach area lost his life, presumably due to a medical emergency. Despite the immediate and professional response by staff and medical personnel, he could not be saved. The exact cause of the incident is being investigated by a forensic medical expert. We express our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.”
