Juan Antonio Samaranch, deputy head of the International Olympic Committee, has proposed that Hungary should aim to host the Summer Olympic Games.

Paying a visit to Budapest to attend a pentathlon world cup competition, Samaranch praised Hungary for its many new sports facilities, and said that the Hungarian Olympic Committee was on the up and up. He also spoke highly of the country’s commitment to the Olympic movement, adding that the Hungarian government was “sports-driven”. Samaranch said “very few countries in Europe are more suited” to host Olympic Games than Hungary.
