The Hungarian Competition Authority suspects that two publisher companies, Axel Springer and Inform Media has made an arrangement on not attacking each other’s county and regional markets.
On 19 September, the authority made a site inspection at the two companies and found contracts and documents that contain data on mutual non-compete and reconciliation of prices related not only to Sunday papers, but any printed and electronic media (price of the papers, advertisements, etc.).
The Hungarian Competition Authority has started a competition control inspection against 5 different publisher company in March 2011. One step of this process was the surprise site inspection at the two companies mentioned above.
