The long-awaited summer holidays have arrived, although not for the police. They have prepared for the tourist season and soon, they will start patrolling the streets actively. Foreign language speaking policemen will also be on duty more often.
The police will pay special attention to the playground areas during the holidays. Many times, young ones need to be protected from their own peers: last year, 8% of the known offenders were under the age of 18, 1.5% under the age of 14 in Debrecen. Tourists can also count on active police presence during the summer. Foreign language speaking policemen will help tourists by giving them directions and information. The police are preparing for the major cultural and sport events, too.
