Old 20,000 HuF banknotes can be used until the end of this year.Old twenty-thousand-forint banknotes can be used until the 31st of December, 2017, because the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) is going to take them out of circulation at the end of the year – states the central bank on its website.
From the 1st of January, 2018 only those new twenty-thousand-forint banknotes can be used that were brought into circulation more than two years ago. Traders are not required to accept the old 20,000 HuF banknotes.
Those twenty-thousand-forint banknotes that have not been exchanged will not lose their value. They can be exchanged for free in banks, post offices until the 31st of December, 2020. While at MNB they can be exchanged until the 31st of December, 2037.
