Justice Minister Calls on EU to Support Poland

Europe

The European Union “must finally support Poland as a single community” as “Poland “must defend not only its own borders but also those of the European Union”, Justice Minister Judit Varga said. Varga said on Facebook in an English-language entry that the “migratory pressure threatening our continent has recently reached a new level as a growing group of illegal migrants try to enter Europe via Poland”. “Enough of the words, we do not have time for technical debates,” she added.

“We have a sense of deja vu since, in 2015, the masses of migrants tried to get to Hungary just as aggressively, by damaging the barrier, as they are now to Poland,” Varga said. “We then called a halt to illegal immigration, although everyone criticised us for our measures and no one rushed to our assistance,” she added. Varga said “we are pleased to see that our Polish friends are no longer in a two-front war like we were”. “We stand up for our Polish friends and call upon Brussels to cover the construction of the border barrier, which, whether they like it or not, remains the most effective tool to protect our Schengen borders!”, she added.
