The 34-year-old man ordered cannabis seeds from the Netherlands and then grew and cared for them at home. Detectives in Debrecen seized 29 stems and hundreds of seeds.
The National Tax and Customs Administration signaled to the police that 40 marijuana seeds had been found in a postal item. The envelope was handed over in the Netherlands and sent to an address in Debrecen.
On June 2, 2022, local detectives went to the suspect’s home and the man was immediately informed that a search would be conducted in his home. Nearly 500 marijuana seeds were found on the property, while the outbuilding was entirely designed to grow cannabis. In addition to lighting, ventilation, and irrigation equipment, 29 seedlings were seized by police.
During the interrogation of the suspect, the man made a detailed confession. The Criminal Department of the Debrecen Police Headquarters launched an investigation against him on the basis of a well-founded suspicion of possession of a drug by cultivation.
