Although Friday will still be very hot, strengthening northerly winds may make the heatwave more bearable, HungaroMet Zrt. said in its forecast published on its Facebook page and website on Friday morning.

Temperatures are expected to peak between 30 and 35°C in most parts of the country, while southeastern areas could see highs of around 35–38°C.

Alongside high and cumulus clouds, several hours of sunshine are expected, with cloudier periods possible mainly in the afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are also possible, particularly along and east of the Danube.

Northwesterly and northerly winds will pick up and strengthen in several areas. Thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong to gale-force wind gusts.

By late evening, temperatures are expected to fall to between 19 and 27°C.
