On March 2, the photography exhibition titled “Wonderful Nature” by Sándor Handki opened in Debrecen at Galéria 21 (21 Simonffy Street). The exhibition was organized by DEMKI Youth House Debrecen and can be visited until March 31 during the community center’s opening hours.
At the opening ceremony, János D. Halász, Managing Director of DEMKI, delivered a welcome speech. The exhibition was officially opened by the artist himself, photographer Sándor Handki, and the event also featured a poetry performance by Boglárka Zudor.
Sándor Handki has been living in Debrecen since 2000. He graduated from the University of Debrecen as a programmer mathematician. Although he works as an IT specialist, he has found in photography the creative space where he can fully express his artistic side. He acquired the technical foundations of photography in a self-taught manner, and gained experience in portrait photography through workshops and later through events he organized himself. Over the years, he has continuously developed his skills in photo composition and post-processing.
Although he regularly engages in portrait photography, it is nature photography where he truly feels fulfilled. For him, this creative form is more than a hobby: it is a calling and a means of self-expression. Through his images, he aims to convey the perspective and emotional depth with which he views the world. Nature photography also reconnects him with a childhood dream—at one point, he wanted to become an amateur naturalist.
The exhibition features close-up images of flowers, birds, and unique animals, presenting the beauty of nature through the artist’s individual perspective. Sándor Handki’s works have previously been displayed at exhibitions in Debrecen, and his long-term goal is to achieve a placement in the 365 Hungary photography competition and to have his works presented in the competition’s national traveling exhibition.
