Hungarian Research Institute to Coordinate International Project on Production Flexibility

Economy Europe

A project to increase the flexibility of production lines and supply chains, led by Hungarian IT and automation research institute SZTAKI, has won 5.4 million euros in funding from the European Union.

The project works to increase the flexibility of players in the production of essential safety and medical equipment to improve international response to pandemics, SZTAKI said. They aim to create a “Digital Technopole”, a flexible digital environment capable of re-commissioning production capacities in a very short time, possibly 48 hours, to producing large quantities of medical devices and protective gear, the statement said. The funding is disbursed under Horizon 2020, the EU’s research and innovation programme, and will be led by SZTAKI deputy head Róbert Lovas.
