New freemen of Debrecen

Éva Risztov, Olympic champion swimmer and János Nagy, president of Centre for Agricultural and Applied Economic Sciences became freemen of Debrecen yesterday.

Éva Risztov received her title because of her performance at the London Olympics, while János Nagy because of his educational activities and achievements and scientific work.

Pro Urbe award was given to László Felföldi, parson and to Attila Vidnyánszky, Kossuth and Jászay Mari awarded director, president of Csokonai Theatre.

Sándor Pántya, director of Bazár-Parking 2000 Ltd and László Szabó, president of TEVA Hungary Ltd received Maecenas of Debrecen Awards.

Kölcsey Ferenc Scholarship was given to Kodály Philharmonic Carmina Calvinistica Debreceniensis this year.

Leopold I, king of Hungary from 1655 to 1705, gave the ‘city’ title to Debrecen on 11 April 1693.
