The Omicron variant of the coronavirus now accounts for 87% of infections in Hungary, according to the chief medical officer.

Those most at risk of severe illness from the virus are still the unvaccinated, Cecília Müller said in a video message published on the government’s Facebook page on Wednesday. She urged everyone over the age of 12 who received their second Covid vaccine dose over four months ago to get a booster shot as well. Müller noted that Hungarians can continue to get jabs without registration on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
