A gang from Szeged kept drugs in bags of cat food and paper clips


The KR NNI raided a drug gang in Szeged. During the raid, the investigators seized more than 50 kilograms of drugs. The arrest of each of the eight suspects taken into custody was initiated, which the court ordered for one month.

The Szeged Department of the International Crime Department of the National Investigation Bureau of the Emergency Police carried out a large-scale operation together with the Deployment Support Department of the Emergency Police, the MEKTA unit of the Csongrád-Csanád County Police Headquarters, and the staff of the Bács-Kiskun County Police Headquarters February 22, 2023 -I. They were realized at the same time in 12 locations. Members of a Szeged team suspected of drug trafficking were arrested and later searched.

The police searched mostly addresses in Szeged, but they also searched an apartment in the county of Bács-Kiskun. During the dawn raid, a total of more than 50 kilograms of drugs were found in the apartments of the eight men. In addition to the traditional drugs – such as the cannabis plant, cocaine, and amphetamine – the investigators also found various resinous and oil-like substances, which are other end products of cannabis processing. In addition, packaging materials, scales used for portioning, and heat welding devices were also seized.

With the action, the Szeged unit of the KR NNI prevented a total of more than 41,000 doses of drugs from entering the market, the black market value of which is at least HUF 143,000,000.

As part of asset recovery, the KR NNI seized HUF 10.5 million in cash, high-value watches, two cars, and several million HUF worth of cryptocurrency from the eight men.

The members of the criminal gang – the youngest member of which is 25, while the oldest is 48 years old, and all of them are residents of Szeged – were suspected of drug trafficking a significant amount of drugs, and then all of them were taken into criminal custody and their arrest initiated.

Of course, it is still waiting for the KR NNI Szeged unit to find out during the investigation exactly which of the suspects had what role in the distribution of drugs, and to map out where the drugs were obtained and to whom they were passed on after processing.

The fact that on December 29, 2022, 60 kilograms of different types of drugs were seized from a member of another criminal group is an indication of the effectiveness of the Szeged unit of the KR NNI in its action against drug trafficking.
