A 31-year-old woman from Budapest, who had been wanted as a missing person, became the victim of homicide, and the police detained two men in connection with her death on Sunday, according to the police’s website.

The Budapest Police Headquarters announced on Tuesday that the 31-year-old woman lived in an apartment in Terézváros, Budapest and her relatives reported her missing in May of last year, because they had not been able to reach her for several weeks. Based on the available information, the suspicion that the woman may have been the victim of a crime grew stronger, and the police finally questioned her ex-partner, a 38-year-old man, on Sunday on suspicion of murder.

Viktor M. admitted during the interrogation that he had killed his ex-girlfriend.

According to police data, the man assaulted the woman so severely on April 7th last year in their shared rented apartment that she died of her injuries on the spot. The man hid her body with the help of a friend. His friend, a 36-year-old man, was questioned and detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting, the BRFK initiated the arrest of both men.

The police searched a bushy area in district 17th with a specially trained dog, where the two men could hide the body. The Pest County Search and Rescue Service was also used for the search, but the body has not yet been found. The police announced last week that they will reopen and review the previously rejected decisions nationwide due to the case of the Japanese woman who was killed in Budapest on January 29th. Domestic violence cases closed due to lack of evidence/crime are also re-examined.
