It is already a tradition that the prize winning photos of the Nature Photographer of the Year are exhibited in the Culture Center of Debrecen. The DMK Belvárosi Galériája (1 Kossuth Street) will be home to the astonishing photos until 26 June. (Photos!)
It was the tenth time that the Association of Hungarian Nature photographers organized the competition called Nature Photographer of the Year. It attracted lots of photographers: 234 people entered the competition who competed with 5309 photos in 13 categories. The entries were of very high quality. The curiosity of the contest is that both grand prizes went to women photographers. Orsolya Haarberg earned the title Nature Photographer of the Year 2011. Her first prize winning photo shows the Hverfell crater in Iceland. The Young Nature Photographer of the Year prize went to Anna Vadász who was born in Szeged, in 1994.
