The money – 962 million forints all together – will be provided by the EU. The building needs exterior reconstruction in the first place.
Bishop Gusztáv Bölcskei explained that the Yellow Church is not only the most typical building and the symbol of Debrecen and the whole region but also the center of Hungarian Protestantism. “The symbol of togetherness and persistence.” – Deputy Mayor Zoltán Pajna added. The renovation works are hoped to begin next spring.
