The noise map of Debrecen was presented a couple of days ago. The preparation of the map was funded by the EU with 99 million forints while the city provided 5% down payment.
On the bases of geometric, residential and traffic figures it was concluded that the greatest noise load is caused by road traffic, especially in Pesti, Nyíl and Rakovszky Street.
Professionals have started to develop a plan of action. In the neighbourhoods of schools the replacement of doors and windows would be the solution. This project would reduce noise load, increase the value market of real estates and would raise environmental awareness.
The interactive noise map is available on-line, thus inhabitants of Debrecen have direct access to the information about noise load in their environment
