Hungarian model farms set up in Africa

Hungarian model farms are being established in Africa to test them in different climatic conditions and provide opportunities to present Hungarian breeds and technologies, the minister of agriculture said in Szeged, in southern Hungary, on Thursday.

István Nagy told a press conference held at Grain Research Nonprofit that the effects of climate change in many African countries and their rapidly growing populations meant it was hard for farming technologies to keep pace.

He said the potential of Hungarian agricultural and environmental innovations, as well as its related scientific research, was recognised and sought after in Africa. Hungary holds its own when it comes to participating in international processes and cooperating with African countries in developing their agriculture and food industries, he added.
