Such was the lunar eclipse at dawn today

National

Péter Komka, the photographer of MTI, captured the lunar eclipse over the Salgo castle near Salgótarján at dawn on the 16th of May.

The total lunar eclipse from Hungary was only partially visible before sunset.

According to the Svábhegyi Csilagvizsgáló, the full moon faces the Sun every month, but due to the slight tilt of the lunar orbit, our Earth does not obscure the sunlight, so we can enjoy the full moon month after month.

Every year or two, however, the Sun, Earth, and Moon fall into exactly one line, and the Earth’s vast cone of shadow obscures sunlight. This is when the lunar eclipse occurs.
