The 8th Debrecziner Gourmet Festival kicked off Friday afternoon in Debrecen’s Nagyerdő with a showcase of the city’s culinary delights and local wines, the organizers announced.

The statement highlighted that Hungary’s top restaurants and chefs have once again gathered in the “cívisváros” (a traditional nickname for Debrecen) to demonstrate the current heights of Hungarian gastronomy.
Alongside the members of the Stílusos Vidéki Éttermiség (Stylish Rural Restaurants) culinary alliance and Debrecen’s finest eateries, star chefs are also presenting as guest exhibitors between June 14 and 16 in Nagyerdő.
Fine dining restaurants, bistros, and food trucks offer mouthwatering bites, exciting textures, and unique ingredient pairings. Visitors can also enjoy desserts, craft beers, quality wines, and unconventional cocktails. The statement adds that the Debrecziner Gourmet Award, established in 2018, will once again be awarded this year based on votes from festival attendees, honoring the best exhibitor.
This year’s festival theme revolves around the four classical elements: fire, water, air, and earth. According to organizers, each element may be interpreted through a wide range of motifs, colors, animals, or even seasonal changes, allowing chefs enormous creative freedom.
On Saturday and Sunday evenings, popular performers will take the stage: Bea Palya will perform on Saturday, and DJ Németi and Zaporozsec will entertain the audience on Sunday.
Football fans won’t miss out either—the Krones Fan Zone, equipped with comfy bean bags and a 5×3-meter screen, will broadcast all weekend matches for festivalgoers.
