Set in the green heart of Debrecen, along Lake Békás in the Big Forest, the Debrecen Gourmet Festival has evolved into one of Hungary’s most distinctive summer gastronomic events. While it showcases high-level cuisine, craft beverages, and international collaborations, its defining feature is not only what is served, but how people experience it.
At this year’s Debrecen Gourmet Festival, one of the most talked-about newcomers was the Nyíregyháza-based Cvekedli Pasta Bar (Cvekedli Tésztabár), a small pasta bar with a big philosophy: take Hungarian comfort food, rethink it through a gourmet lens, and serve it with respect for local ingredients, tradition, and innovation.
The 2026 Debrecen Gourmet Festival begins today, transforming the Big Forrest into one of Hungary’s most exciting culinary destinations for the weekend. Visitors can look forward to a rich selection of gourmet dishes, premium wines, craft beverages, live cooking demonstrations and concerts, while some of the country’s best-known chefs showcase their skills on stage.
From June 12 to 14, Debrecen will host the 10th edition of the region’s largest gastronomic and cultural event, the Debrecen Gourmet Festival. The anniversary edition comes with a special theme: in 2026, “Flavours of the World” will take centre stage, turning the Big Forest (Nagyerdő) into a three-day culinary world tour.
