Fragrant Beauties at the zoo

Local News

Native to South America, the jasmine or winged tobacco (Nicotiana alata) is an ornamental annual that develops strong and thick bushes despite being relatively short. It has elegant conic flowers with an inebriating scent, most noticeable in the evening, and colors ranging between white, pink, and purple.

Preferring sunlit and semi-shade areas, the winged tobacco is highly resilient to diseases and pests. With its star-shaped flowers blooming all summer long, potentially from June to late September, it can be a refreshing addition to any garden.
