The German thyssenkrupp corporation, which is constructing a 17.4 billion forints (EUR 43.8m) camshaft plant in Pécs,  held its groundbreaking ceremony on 2 October 2019.

The government is supporting the investment, which will create 200 jobs, with a 5.57 billion forint grant, the minister said. The plant will start operating in 2020 and could reach full capacity in 2022.

Managing director for thyssenkrupp’s local unit Marc de Bastos Eckstein said the company had invested more than 50 billion forints in its business in Hungary over the years.
