Debrecen student also successful at the Central European Olympiad in Informatics

Hungarian competitors won one silver and two bronze medals at the Central European Olympiad in Informatics (CEOI) held last weekend in Cluj-Napoca, according to a statement from the Neumann Society.

Their statement noted that the competition, regarded as the most prestigious IT academic contest in the region, attracted students from fifteen countries. Among the four-member Hungarian delegation, led by Péter Csorba and Júlia Éles, Balázs Szilágyi (Veres Péter Secondary School, Békásmegyer) won a silver medal, while Gergely Sánta (Fazekas Mihály Secondary School, Budapest) and Zsolt Mihály (Árpád Secondary School, Óbuda) earned bronze medals.

The fourth member of the delegation, Tamás Görömbey from Fazekas Mihály Secondary School in Debrecen, also performed commendably among the international field.

The Neumann Society’s statement also highlighted that the peak of the olympiad season will once again be the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), to be held from July 27 to August 3 in Sucre, the constitutional capital of Bolivia. Hungary will be represented there by Pál Czanik, Tamás Görömbey, Ádám István Molnár, and Balázs Szilágyi.

From July 14 to 20, the Hungarian team of Dóra Horváth, Júlia Baran, Zsófia Keresztély, and Vivien Varga will participate in the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) in Bonn.

This year, the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), being organized for the second time, will be held in Beijing from August 2 to 9, with Hungarian competitors also participating. The European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (eJOI) will take place from August 29 to September 4 in Shumen, Bulgaria.
