The Traffic Police Department of the Hajdú-Bihar County Police Headquarters conducted proceedings against a resident of Píspökladány on grounds of reasonable suspicion of the offense of failure to render assistance, felony driving under the ban, and negligent causing of a fatal road accident.
According to the data of the investigation, the suspect was driving on Highway No. 4 in the direction of Karcag on June 28, 2022, around noon, when he crossed his car into the opposite traffic lane and hit two motorcyclists. After getting out of the car, the man left the scene on foot without helping the injured.
In the accident, one motorcyclist died on the spot, while his companion suffered life-threatening injuries.
After the report, the police collected data and identified the driver of the car, against whom an arrest warrant was issued. The driver was arrested in Debrecen, produced and interrogated as a suspect. During the procedure, it was also revealed that the Püspökladany District Court had previously banned the man from driving for three years.
The police officers carried out the necessary procedural actions and sent the resulting documents to the competent prosecutor’s office with a proposal to indict, the Police informed.
