The Hajdú-Bihar County Prosecutor’s Office has charged the grandson with murder, after he repeatedly stabbed his sleeping grandmother with a kitchen knife.
According to the indictment, the man, struggling with personal issues, regularly drank alcohol and had moved into his grandparents’ home in Hajdúszoboszló prior to committing the crime. The accused had often asked the victim for money, and in May 2024, they had several arguments over the grandmother’s refusal to give him any.
On the afternoon of May 30, 2024, the man once again asked for money but was refused. After the grandmother fell asleep that evening, the accused, who was watching TV, decided that his grandmother was the cause of his failed life. At 10 PM, he took a knife from the kitchen, went into the victim’s bedroom, and repeatedly stabbed the sleeping woman. The injuries were so severe that the woman died shortly thereafter.
The investigation was conducted by the Hajdú-Bihar County Police Headquarters.
The accused, who is currently in custody, faces charges of murder with special cruelty, committed against a defenseless person. The Hajdú-Bihar County Prosecutor’s Office has requested that the defendant be sentenced to prison and additionally banned from public office.
