The Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen organized the FST Professional Day with the participation of a record number of corporate partners and more than 600 students. Due to the epidemic situation, this event also moved to the online space this year.

This year’s FST Professional Day kicked off on Thursday with a roundtable discussion of four leading international companies in financial analysis and modeling. Representatives of the companies talked about the opportunities and challenges that analytical companies offer to those with a degree in science.

As in previous years, the presentations were grouped into separate sections by industry, and the venues were virtual versions of the usual K1, K2, K3 rooms.

In his address, Dean Ferenc Kun emphasized that, as a higher education institution, their primary goal is to provide students with marketable knowledge and a competitive degree, with which employers will welcome them with open arms.

– In order to achieve this goal, FST has established active relations with almost all industrial companies in our wider region in recent years. It is very important to know the needs of employers and to be able to provide high-quality practice-oriented training to our students. As a result, dual training started as early as 2016, and the number of partners and students participating in the training has been steadily increasing ever since, the faculty leader emphasized.

Ferenc Kun added that this year is the 10th professional day, the goal of which is still unchanged: students get a comprehensive picture of the opportunities and expectations offered by employers as soon as possible, and the faculty strengthen their industrial relations, get to know and then integrate companies needs into training.

This year’s event was attended by a record number of about 30 companies, and their presentations were watched by more than 600 students through the online system.

The event was implemented within the framework of the EFOP-3.4.4-16-2017-00023 – “Implementation of Innovative Programs Facilitating Entry to MTMI Courses in the Attraction Area of the University of Debrecen” project.
