The University of Debrecen once again took part in the Campus Festival with a colorful program lineup. At University Square, the university’s faculties and organizational units welcomed visitors in wooden cottages, while the Unipass Stage hosted exciting talks, and the Debrecen University Stage featured diverse musical genres. A new venue also made its successful debut this year: the SET Center (Sports Diagnostics, Lifestyle and Therapy Center), where many visitors participated in various screenings.

The university showcased its educational, scientific, and community activities in diverse ways, including a new festival space. The SET Center offered medical check-ups and consultations. The Department of Family and Occupational Medicine’s programs for children, eye screenings, ultrasound tests, and CPR demonstrations were especially popular.

Each day from 4 p.m., twelve wooden cottages hosted entertaining and interactive activities. Festivalgoers could identify their blood type via rapid tests, use a vein scanner, take book selfies, create custom bracelets, experiment with dry ice, or even sign a “festival marriage contract.”

“University Square once again attracted a large crowd. From 4 p.m., attendees eagerly completed tasks to collect stamps, which they could exchange for syrup from the Faculty of Agriculture or wine spritzers from Mád. The Unipass Stage’s talks were a hit too—athlete-students shared stories, university experts discussed healthy lifestyles and the bitcoin revolution, and special guest Orsolya Ferencz, Hungary’s space commissioner, spoke in a session titled Formula for Success: Talent, Science, Inspiration,” said Mónika Rőfi, head of the university’s Event Coordination and Alumni Center.

On the University of Debrecen music stage, genre diversity once again took center stage, with performances by Nagy Bogi, ajsa luna, L.L. Junior, BSW and the GANG, Sub Bass Monster, Irie Maffia, Punnany Massif, and Nagy Feró & Beatrice.

Held between July 16–20, the festival drew a record-breaking 121,000 visitors to Nagyerdő, blending nostalgic vibes with modern comfort and technology.

The final day marked a true highlight in Campus Festival history, attracting the largest audience in 17 years. The four-day program included over 250 music acts and nearly 1,000 cultural programs across 21 venues, making Campus one of the most successful festivals of summer 2025.

Public figures and celebrities also enhanced the event’s popularity, including Olympian Krisztián Berki, actors András Stohl and Ramóna Kiss, journalist Antónia Erős, producer Barbara Hámori, and sports manager Mátyás Eszterházy.

The variety of venues—from the MBH Bank Rock Arena to the Civil Village—contributed to the festival’s diversity and welcomed international acts like The Dandy Warhols (USA) and Flux Pavilion (UK). The Civil Village emphasized values like social dialogue, sustainability, and strengthening local communities, offering programs such as the Living Library, Sustainability Court, and interactive local organization booths.

Art installations and creative visual elements further enriched the festival’s atmosphere. Organizers emphasized that Campus is not just a music event but a full-fledged community experience rooted in diversity and the values of Debrecen.

This year’s motto, We Take Care of Each Other, was not just a slogan but a guiding principle. The newly launched “Interveners” project focused on mental well-being, contributing to a safe, welcoming environment. With no major medical issues reported, the on-site first aid team treated 180 minor cases.

At Wednesday’s opening reception, the festival raised 16 million HUF for the Save Beni Foundation, demonstrating that Campus is also a socially engaged and responsible event.

Site restoration began early Sunday morning, and the Nagyerdő area is expected to be fully accessible again in a few days.

Built on sustainability, quality, and community values, the Campus Festival has become an essential part of Hungary’s summer, a flagship event for music fans, and a key cultural and tourism asset for Debrecen—thanks to the efforts of over 3,000 workers and a vibrant community.
