Partnership agreement between E.ON and the Madárkórház (Bird Hospital) Foundation

At the beginning of October, E.ON Hungária and the Madárkórház Foundation started their official partnership under which they will be working together on bird protection and the elimination of bird accidents. As part of their agreement, new targeted solutions will be implemented, including the exploration of potential sources of danger, joint training programs organized by the two organizations as well as coordination of the helpful warnings sent by volunteers who want to do something for the protection of birds. This forward-looking partnership is a new milestone in bird protection, which plays a key role in the environmental policy of the energy company.

It is especially important for E.ON Hungária to take complex measures for the protection of birds. It has been planning its new networks with a view to the safety of animals for at least 10 years and spends about HUF 1.5 billion each year on making the old networks bird-friendly. The company is working together with national parks – such as the National Park of Hortobágy – and several professional organizations to guarantee the safety of birds and is constantly seeking new opportunities for cooperation: on October 6 it announced a joint program with the Madárkórház Foundation in Hortobágy.

“The Madárkórház Foundation is one of our key partners and we highly appreciate this partnership. The joint work we have just started with this committed organization will make it possible to raise bird protection to a new level, implement new bird protection investments and intervene where necessary in a more targeted and efficient manner. We are looking forward to receiving feedback from the Foundation and from anybody who is willing to do something for the safety of animals” – Judit Haraszti, E.ON Tiszántúli Áramhálózati Zrt’s CEO said. There could not have been a better time to start our partnership as “migratory birds start leaving our country in the autumn. This is the right time for action, so let’s take advantage of this opportunity” – the CEO added.

“We have been working for the protection of birds for a long time and we are seeing that the energy provider has an important role in this issue. We need to work together for the protection of birds in today’s modern environment. We welcome this partnership and hope that together we will be able to implement effective solutions and further increase the safety of birds” – István Konyhás, member of the board of trustees of the Madárkórház Foundation said.
