For the first time, the University of Debrecen was included in the Times Higher Education IT thematic ranking, with the 601-800. gained a place. In the field of engineering, the institution was placed in the 801-1000 category in the ranking published on Wednesday.

The University of Debrecen has also been included in the two recently presented thematic lists of the renowned British ranking maker Times Higher Education. The same 13 performance indicators in 5 categories are used in the compilation of the field rankings as in the World University Rankings 2022 global list, on which the University of Debrecen has 801-1000. ranked. However, the general method and weightings are further refined and adapted to the specificities of each discipline for each thematic ranking.

The institution is included in the IT rankings for the first time, where it is immediately open in the 601-800 category among the 891 institutions examined. The following factors were taken into account when compiling the ranking: education 30% (learning environment), research 30% (quantity, income and reputation), citation 27.5% (impact of research), international indicators 7.5% (teachers, students) and research), industrial income 5% (innovation).

The ranking was led by the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, Stanford University in the United States and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a strategic partner of the University of Debrecen. Among Hungarian institutions, in addition to the University of Debrecen, the University of Óbuda (501-600), the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (601-800), the Eötvös Loránd University (601-800) and the University of Szeged (801+) were added to the list.

In the field of engineering, as in the previous year, the 801-1000. position the institution achieved among the ranked 1188 universities. This list examined institutions providing training in general engineering, electrical and electrical engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and civil engineering and chemical engineering.

Three U.S. institutions became podiums: Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to the University of Debrecen, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (601-800), the University of Óbuda (601-800), the University of Pannonia (1000+) and the University of Miskolc (1000+) are on the list.
