Civil Engineering Company Opened an Office in Debrecen

Among other things, HBM Kft. carried out the civil engineering works of the University Tower Debrecen. They also work with local educational institutions.

 

HBM is the Hungarian subsidiary of Soletanche Bachy, a French company specializing in special civil engineering. They have more than 25 years of experience in the domestic market and have many references in the city and in the region. In 2020, the company carried out the civil engineering works of the University Tower Debrecen from design to construction. The company is currently involved in the development of two major local projects, the Smart Life Hotel and the Debrecen plant of Semcorp. HBM is also carrying out the complete deep foundation work of  BMW’s Debrecen factory.

 

Our goal is to develop the city and the region with our domestic and international expertise, tailored to local needs and with local expertise, CEO Tamás Kaltenbacher, said at the opening on 28th September 2021.

 

A quarter of the company’s employees still come from the Eastern Hungary region, but youth training is key for them therefore HBM wants to establish cooperation with the University of Debrecen and local vocational training institutions. As Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa highlighted, he said that young people wishing to work in the civil engineering profession can pursue an international career in Debrecen through the opening of the HBM office in town.

 

The fact that the company has had employees from Debrecen and the region previously, is positive recognition of the local education system. The education system can supply the company with talented graduates. The choice of location is also a recognition of the city’s long-term strategy, the deputy mayor pointed out.

The company is committed to environmentally conscious construction. It aims to reduce carbon emissions by 40 percent by the end of the decade. To achieve this goal, it has already successfully used alternative building materials, hybrid implementation, and technologies and design practices in several of its construction sites, such as the University Tower and the BMW plant, which have enabled less material to be used and enabled faster construction.
