Semi-detached house explodes in Debrecen

Presumably it was a gas explosion that demolished half of a semi-detached house on 11th of January, Tuesday morning, in Debrecen. A severely injured man was rescued from under the debris by the fire fighters.

The other half of the house turned dangerous. The ambulance men examined the old couple who lives there and found that they had not been hurt. They were taken to a safe place- said Ferenc Kovacs, leader of the Hajdu-Bihar County Directory of Disaster Recovery to the local press.
Eighteen fire fighters with three cars worked on the spot and a level 2 alert was raised. The power of the detonation damaged 5 more houses and 2 cars. According to the neighbors, the sound of the explosion was heard kilometers away as well. The detonation happened at 3 o’clock in Kurucz Street.
