Local News

Not even these gloomy days can stop weigelas from blooming! ?

Weigela is a genus of deciduous shrubs in the honeysuckle family. Originally from the Far East, weigelas are some of our greatest summertime spectacles with their dense bright green foliage and rich pink or red inflorescence. Blooming from late May or early June, they showcase their beautiful conic or bell-shaped flowers till the end of summer. Easily acclimating to urban environments, they can grow up to 2 or 3 meters tall.
Weigelas are planted all over the Debrecen Zoological Park. You can check them out near animal enclosures or in garden areas.
