On May 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., the Urban Social Service of Debrecen (Debrecen Megyei Jogú Város Városi Szociális Szolgálat) will host a public event titled Men’s Leg Beauty Contest at the Szabó Kálmán Street Senior Club of the Homokkert and Józsa Care Service.

This will be the 12th edition of the popular and now-traditional event. The organizers aim to offer a glimpse into the club’s activities and showcase the diversity of community life there. They emphasize the importance of regular recreational activities for healthy aging and seek to actively involve the elderly in shaping their communities.

As we age, the health of our feet becomes increasingly important, as they bear more strain than we often realize. Foot health contributes significantly to maintaining quality of life and physical fitness. Preserving mobility is crucial, especially in older age, as its loss can have a serious psychological impact, potentially leading to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

Besides physical activity, participating in socially engaging community events—such as cheerful competitions, bake parties, group singing, or dancing—offers one of the most enjoyable ways to stay active. This event aims to raise awareness of that fact. Caring for foot health requires daily effort, including regular exercise, as well as the consumption of nutrient-rich foods, vitamins, and minerals that support bone, joint, and cartilage health.

The event promises a true community experience with its vibrant program—offering both an exciting contest and entertainment. During the live music celebration, club members will have the chance to relive their youth, which, according to the institution director Mrs. Lajos Nagy, serves as a true source of joy and emotional well-being.

The event will close with a live music dance party to ensure full enjoyment for all dance-loving attendees. The opening speech will be given by local government representative Gyöngyi Dankuné Nagy.
