They know how crucial it is to keep blood supplies at a safe level. The Air Rescue Service, the Hungarian Red Cross, and the National Blood Supply Service are mobilizing both new and returning donors in seven regional centers across Hungary, including Debrecen, at the Nagyerdei Stadium. On September 27, between 10:00 and 17:00, the air rescue helicopter and its crew will be stationed at the venue throughout the blood drive.

“Donate blood with the air rescue team, give a chance to survive!” – this is the message of the organizers of the 2025 Air Rescue Blood Drive, a joint effort of the Hungarian Foundation for Air Rescue, the Hungarian Air Ambulance Nonprofit Ltd., the Hungarian Red Cross, and the National Blood Supply Service. On September 27, from 10:00 to 17:00, they invite donors across seven regional centers in Hungary to take part in a large-scale blood donation event. In Debrecen, participants can donate at the Nagyerdei Stadium. This year marks two milestones: the 5th anniversary of the Air Rescue Blood Drive and the 10th anniversary of the Hungarian Foundation for Air Rescue.

A festive moment at the stadium
At the stadium, the air rescue helicopter and its medical crew will remain on standby during the blood donation, and all donors and visitors will have the chance to see the special aircraft, its equipment, and meet the rescue professionals. Interactive and educational programs will also be available, including accident and crime prevention talks, CPR and first aid demonstrations, and the “Hero Training” program where participants can practice life-saving techniques. In addition, visitors can join fun and skill-building activities, including the brand-new Air Rescue board game, presented to the public for the first time.

This year, the organizers will also celebrate with a special moment for all new, returning, and future donors. To mark the 10th anniversary of the foundation and the 5th birthday of the Air Rescue Blood Drive, the “Air Rescue Cake” will be cut at 15:30. The celebration not only honors the now well-established tradition but also every donor who chooses to help, voluntarily and anonymously, on September 27.
