The parents from Debrecen who walked naked in the street with their four-year-old daughter are not allowed to go near the child, RTL has learned.
As previously reported, passersby notified the police after the parents marched unclothed with the child while shouting phrases about driving out Satan. According to a report by RTL, the couple was attempting to carry out a kind of exorcism on their daughter.
Based on footage recorded at the scene, the couple appeared to be fleeing from something, and when police officers arrived, they began to run. Another video shows them trying to hide, but both were eventually apprehended. The woman, the man, and the child were all taken to the hospital, though the little girl did not suffer serious injuries.
The parents were subsequently transferred to a psychiatric ward, from which they were later released. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against them on charges of child endangerment. In the meantime, the court has issued a restraining order prohibiting them from contacting the child in any way. The girl is currently in the care of one of her grandparents.
If found guilty at the end of the proceedings, the parents could face up to five years in prison and may also lose their parental custody rights. Child protection proceedings are also underway in the case.
