The heatwave is expected to temporarily ease over the weekend, with daily high temperatures around 30°C. According to the forecast from HungaroMet Nonprofit Zrt., shared with MTI on Thursday, showers and thunderstorms are still likely on Friday—primarily in eastern Hungary—but sunny and dry weather is expected for the rest of the weekend.

On Friday, expect plenty of sunshine with some high and cumulus clouds. The latter may grow larger mainly in the eastern and northeastern regions.

Along with a passing front, most precipitation activity will shift eastward, where showers and thunderstorms are more likely, though some rain may also occur in parts of Transdanubia.

The northwesterly wind may become strong or even stormy near the front and during thunderstorms, while behind the front, only strong gusts are expected. Maximum temperatures will range between 29°C and 35°C.

On Saturday, the weather will be sunny with scattered cumulus clouds and little chance of precipitation. The north and northwesterly wind will strengthen in many areas.

Morning lows will generally range between 17°C and 22°C, but in less windy northern valleys, it could be a few degrees cooler. Afternoon highs are expected between 26°C and 31°C.

On Sunday, fair weather will continue with sunny, dry conditions and scattered cumulus clouds. Winds from the north and northwest may be accompanied by occasional brisk gusts. Early morning temperatures will fall between 13°C and 19°C, potentially much cooler in cold-prone areas. Afternoon highs are likely to range between 29°C and 33°C.
