The ECB organizes bank supervision into three directorates based on business models: systemic and international banks, universal and diversified institutions, and specialised/less significant institutions. Horizontal Line Supervision supports these teams with thematic reviews, benchmarking, supervisory policy, and methodology development.
The ECB has also begun recruiting a new Director General for Specialised Institutions and Less Significant Institutions.
