A significant step has been taken toward reopening the spa in Hortobágy: construction work has begun on the access road leading to the beach area, Mayor Ádám Jakab announced on social media.
He said locals have long viewed the spa as a hidden and unreachable treasure, and the building, which has stood unused for years, may now finally get a chance to come back to life.
One of the most important first steps of the development was ensuring access to the site. To support the investment and remove obstacles to progress, the local council previously approved the construction of the access road on municipal land.
According to the mayor, earthworks are currently underway, with heavy machinery already operating on the site, clearly indicating that the project has entered the implementation phase.
Residents have been waiting a long time for the spa to reopen, as it could not only revive a former community space but also create new opportunities for Hortobágy. Local leaders promised to continue providing updates on future developments.
