Few people deal with production in the county.
Experts say that although there will be a demand for vegetables in a few days, farmers expect low prices. Producers didn’t benefit from the German diarrheal disease but the inhabitants of the zoo did as a producer from Békés County has donated cucumber of 120 thousand HUF’s worth to them. Although because of the cucumber scandal producers can sell less vegetables, the demand for the Hungarian cucumber hasn’t decreased significantly. In the county, only few producers deal with large-scale cucumber production on 30-40 acres. The local merchants procure the vegetables from the surrounding counties.
