A solar power plant is being built on 52 hectares at the airport in Debrecen

The solar power plant will be built on a 52-acre site in the immediate vicinity of the Southern Industrial Park, on the south side of the airport. Through the investment, the amount of greenhouse gas will be reduced by approximately 33,000 tons per year, writes László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen.

A government decision was made to promote the construction of a large-scale and high-performance solar power plant – this was revealed in the mayor’s registration of Debrecen.

According to the agreement concluded with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology and the Hungarian Electric Works, the solar power plant will be built in the immediate vicinity of the Southern Industrial Park, on the south side of the airport, on an area of ​​52 hectares.

Through the investment, the amount of greenhouse gas will be reduced by approximately 33,000 tons per year. In the autumn of 2019, we announced a new environmental policy, a very important element of which is to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas and improve the sustainability of the city, the mayor concluded.
