On Saturday afternoon, a passenger car drove into the Hortobágy-Berettyó main canal. The Tesla slid into the water near Karcag.
The Hajdú-Bihar County Disaster Management Directorate told the news outlet that the professional firefighters from Püspökladány were dispatched to the scene and began technical rescue operations upon arrival.
According to the National Ambulance Service, a man in his 50s was transported from the accident site to the hospital in stable condition.
Disaster management report on the incident: A car drove into the Hortobágy-Berettyó main canal on Saturday late afternoon, alongside Highway 4, between Karcag and Püspökladány. Professional firefighters from Püspökladány, Szeghalom, and Karcag responded to the accident.
The units inspected the site and, using hand tools, cleared the riverbank of vegetation. The vehicle became stuck in the water and was later removed by a tow truck. Only the driver was in the car, and he was transported to the hospital by the ambulance service for examination.
