László Papp, mayor of Debrecen visited the Pope in Rome on 22nd March.A Hungarian delegation – led by László Papp, mayor and Szabolcs Komolay vice mayor – visited the Pope in Rome on the 22nd of March. Main goal of the trip was to strengthen the cultural bonds between the two cities.
The delegation attended the audience of the Pope where they could meet him in person, too. The Pope welcomed the Hungarian politicians and sent his greetings to Debrecen and its citizens.
Members of the Hungarian delegation will visit several Hungarian cultural events in Rome during they stay and they will also discuss the opportunities and chances of Debrecen regarding the European Capital of Culture 2023 project.
László Papp and Szabolcs Komolay will aslo meet the Hungarian ambassador in Rome.
